We built Sí, Yo Hablo to help people learn Spanish through listening, speaking, and conversation practice. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used. We keep it plain — no legal jargon.
Who we are
Sí, Yo Hablo is an iOS app developed by Prestige212 Ventures LLC, based in the United States. If you have any privacy questions, email us at [email protected].
What we collect
Here's exactly what we store about you:
- Email address: Optional. Collected if you choose to add it in Settings or after subscribing. Used to send occasional learning tips and product updates.
- Dialect preference: Optional. Which regional variety of Spanish you've selected (e.g. Mexican, Colombian).
- Learning progress: Which sentences you've practiced, how many times, and whether you completed them. Used to personalize the feed and track your progress.
- Voice recordings: When you use speaking practice features, your voice is recorded, sent to ElevenLabs for transcription, and in some cases sent to xAI (Grok) to evaluate whether your response made sense. We do not store your audio. It is processed in real time and discarded.
- Translation history: Translations you run through the in-app translate tool are stored locally on your device and on our servers, linked to your account.
- App usage data: How you interact with the app — filters you apply, recording durations, screens visited, cards completed — used to improve the product. This includes session recordings (screen activity) and analytics events collected via PostHog.
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active Pro subscription and when it expires, managed via RevenueCat.
Third-party AI services
Two external AI services process your data as part of the app's core features:
- ElevenLabs — When you record your voice in a speaking practice exercise, the audio is sent to ElevenLabs to be transcribed into text. ElevenLabs does not retain your audio beyond the transcription request.
- xAI (Grok) — For conversation practice cards, your transcribed response is sent to xAI to evaluate whether it was a valid reply and provide feedback. No personally identifying information is included in these requests beyond the text of your response.
We do not use these services for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than evaluating your spoken practice responses.
Analytics and session recording
We use PostHog to understand how people use the app and to catch errors before they affect more users. PostHog collects the following on our behalf:
- Product analytics: Events such as which screens you visit, which cards you complete, and which filters you apply. This data is aggregated — we look at trends across all users, not individual behavior.
- Session recordings: A replay of your in-app activity (taps, scrolls, navigation) so we can identify usability issues and bugs. Text inputs are masked by default and are never captured.
- Error tracking: Unhandled errors and crashes are reported automatically so we can fix them quickly. No personally identifying information is included in error reports.
PostHog data is stored in the United States. You can read PostHog's privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.
How we use your data
- To show you personalized sentence content based on your learning history
- To evaluate your pronunciation, spoken responses and provide feedback
- To send learning tips and product updates (only if you provide your email)
- To analyze general usage patterns and improve the app's features and content
We do not sell your data, voice recordings, or any personal information to anyone, ever.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on your device and a database on our servers located in the United States. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This deletes your profile, learning history, translation history, usage data, and all other records tied to your account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Children
Sí, Yo Hablo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
